CORONAVIRUS NEWS
AT ST JOHN VIANNEY

 
We are refraining from the following:

  • Mass books/Hymn books not to be used
  • Holy water
  • Sign of Peace
  • Holy Communion from the Chalice
  • Those who choose to receive Holy Communion on the tongue should be encouraged to receive on the hand instead.  Their doing this represents an act of loving charity to their community.
  • There will be no basket collections.  A donations box will be in the porch for you to place your weekly offering in.
  • No refreshments after 10.30 Mass
  • No Wednesday Lunch Club 

 
During this time please adhere to the following:

  • If you take a newsletter from the porch, or other leaflets, make sure you take them home and not return them in the tray. 
  • Remember to use good hand washing and gel use technique.  
  • Anyone with cold or flu symptoms are asked to refrain from attending Liturgy. 
  • Most vulnerable parishioners are requested to refrain from attending Liturgy and to stay at home. (e.g. elderly, people with weakened immune systems and long term conditions like cancer, diabetes and heart disease). 

    Currently we have no more hand sanitizer available in the church.  Supplies are on order, but there are delays due to the high demand. In the meantime please bring your own.

Marriage Care

(Located in Blackheath)

This is a national Catholic organisation specialised in Marriage Preparation and Relationship Counselling. If anyone is interested in supporting couples and individuals in the local community, the positions available are:

 

Receptionists/Chaperones: We urgently need volunteers who can spare a couple of hours on a weekday evening to meet and greet clients and remain in the venue during counselling sessions.

Marriage Preparation Course Facilitators: We will train you for this exciting and fulfilling role.

Qualified relationship counsellors: Are you a qualified relationship counsellor with over 150 hours of relationship counselling experience? Would you like to help us in our mission to support clients in distress?  You will be part of a team of counsellors and have opportunities to increase your professional knowledge and skills.
